Sydney Parades
Two of the major street parades of my stay in Sydney. I had to rush to New Zealand for Paddy's Day to do an interview and I opted for the Melbourne Grand Prix over the Mardi Gras.
The firefighters preventing the bushfires from spreading to Sydney around Christmas time. This parade was an opportunity for the citizens of Sydney to thank them. It was only while travelling south of Sydney towards Jervis Bay that I fully appreciated the scale of the damage.
I was on my way to Chinatown from Kent St for the cheap internet access when I noticed a large crowd had gathered outside Town Hall to look up at a big screen with a senior army officer speaking on it. I soon realised that a military funeral was taking place in the Cathedral. I was not expecting the size of the parade though. I still don't know the name of this wellknown soldier.
